Are you about to embark on a project to build an Intranet or overhaul an existing one?
Over the last 20 years I have been involved in a wide range of Intranet projects. My roles have changed over the years from very technical in the early years to a consulting focus these days. Being part of many different Intranet project teams has given me some good first hand experience with what works well and what doesn’t and that lead me to writing a book.
While Googling “how to write a book”, I discovered LeanPub a platform for writing and publishing books that really suited me. I can start small and develop the book content in the time I have available to me. People who buy the book get free updates as I extend the content. It’s a win-win for me as an author and you as a reader!
This book is a collection of thoughts from the experience I’ve gained throughout my career combined with first hand experiences from recent projects. My goal in writing the book is to help others make a better Intranet, especially those who haven’t built one before. If you’re a seasoned veteran yourself, it might not be for you. If you’re a specialist in Change Management, you might not agree with everything I say. If you are a designer, then you’ll know more about design than me. The objective is to get someone who has little experience up the curve quickly, so they can do better than they would have otherwise done.
Once you have read this book, you will have learnt about:
- Project team and budget items
- Site Architecture
- Designing and Building and Intranet
- Change Management
- User Adoption
- Creating great content
- Ongoing Intranet support and management
- Last but not least, why SharePoint is great for Intranets
As I launch this book, you’ll notice I say I’m about 70% done. I’ve written over 24,000 words and spent considerable time rewriting and rewriting again… I am committed to completing the remain 30% and will be working on that over the next few months. I am planning to cover a variety of additional topics and expand on some of the exisiting content:
- More on design and layout
- Content migration
- Example solutions
- More ideas for improving your Intranet
If you buy the book, you get these updates as I write them for no additional cost.
I don’t have a big budget or marketing team behind me. I rely on word of mouth and sharing, so if you like what you see or know someone you think will, I would appreciate you sharing this page with them.
