Over the last 20 years I have been involved in a wide range of Intranet projects. My roles have changed over the years from very technical in the early years to a consulting focus these days. Being part of many different Intranet project teams has given me some good first hand experience with what works well and what doesn’t and that lead me to writing a book.

While Googling “how to write a book”, I discovered LeanPub a platform for writing and publishing books that really suited me. This book is a collection of thoughts from the experience I’ve gained throughout my career combined with first hand experiences from recent projects. My goal in writing the book is to help others make a better Intranet, especially those who haven’t built one before. The objective is to get someone who has little experience up the curve quickly, so they can do better than they would have otherwise done. If you’re new to SharePoint, this is a book for you. There is also plenty of helpful stuff for more experienced SharePoint users too.

When I launch this book in August 2021, it was about 90% done. I had written over 32,500 words and spent considerable time rewriting and rewriting again… Since the initial launch, I have revised and improved the content, adding addition images and increasing the word count to over 37,000 words.

UPDATE! (27/8/22)

I have a revised version of my book in development. I’ve added numerous updates including things I’ve learnt from recent projects, revisions related to new SharePoint features, and a new chapter. I’m hoping to release the update very soon. This version will be free to anyone with an existing copy from LeanPub.

UPDATE! (2023 Edition / Hardcopy)

In February 2023 I released a major update on Amazon including all changes added to the LeanPub (live update) version up to 30th January 2023. I also added a print on demand hard copy version. This video is a short preview. (Buy on Amazon)
