SharePoint features retiring in 2026

Do you remember when SharePoint Designer workflows first made it possible to automate processes with documents and Lists? It was way back in 2006, that workflows first made an appearance in SharePoint 2007. Go back another three years to 2003 and you’ll see InfoPath in SharePoint for the first time. These are two widely used features that will be retired for good this year after more than 2 decades of service!

Here is a list of the SharePoint features retiring this year. Features reliant on this functionality including Alerts will also retire as these features are retired.

In addition to these items SharePoint 2016 and 2019 Server are also reaching end of support in June 2026. Microsoft will stop releasing updates for these versions of SharePoint. To remain supported you can either migrate to SharePoint Online or upgrading the SharePoint Server subscription addition.
