Here is an interesting issue I had during a SharePoint 2010 to 2013 migration. In the scenario, we created a new SharePoint Intranet and used DocAve to migrate content and used an Content DB migration for MySites content and the User Profile Service.

Everything seemed to migrate successfully, but when users tried to access MySites the person.aspx page would fail to load and a correlation error would appear on the screen. In the ULS log I noticed a timeout error.

Removing the “Ask me about” web-part from Person.aspx resulted in the page loading, but the information and edit profile features were missing.

After a lot of digging around I noticed the problem only occurred for people who had value in “Ask Me About” in the profile property (SPS-responsibility). Manually editing the values in this property via Central Admin, resolved the issue for those users.
